Samuel Levack is a multidisciplinary artist working across ceramics, collage, film, installation, performance, poetry and music. His current practice centres on ceramic poetry: hand-built and glazed letterforms assembled into wall-based works that read as complete texts.
Language operates as both material and structure across his work. His films trace journeys through urban and rural landscapes, combining colour, sound and poetic voice, while his performance and music extend these concerns through lyric and vocal presence. Across these mediums, he uses text to register lived experience, connecting personal encounters with wider social and political conditions.
A significant strand of Levack’s practice has been his long-term collaboration with Jennifer Lewandowska, working across film, installation, music and performance. Their work explores the intersection of landscape, language and sensory experience, often unfolding as immersive journeys in sound and image. Together, they co-founded French Riviera in 2011, an influential artist-led gallery in East London that supported a vibrant creative community.
Alongside his studio practice, Levack has been Creative Director of Glastonbury Festival Interstage (2020–present), leading the art direction of the backstage environment behind the Pyramid Stage. Working with a team of artists, architects and fabricators, he develops large-scale artworks, structures and hand-painted signage to create an immersive space at the centre of Worthy Farm.
His work has been presented in exhibitions, festivals, performances, screenings and residencies across the UK, Europe and the USA.
